Darren James

Darren was elected as parent governor in October 2017.  He has lived in Darwen for 16 years after moving up from Hampshire.  Darren currently has one son in year 10 at DACA with his youngest son due to start in September 2018.  Darren is an ex youth worker with a specialism in teenage sexual health.  He now works at King Georges Hall, Blackburn and Darwen Library Theatre as an events manager.  Darren manages and hosts the annual Darwen Live music festival and in his spare time interviews actors for TV and Film events. 

Glenda Brindle - Acting Chair

Glenda was born in Darwen and attended St Joseph’s Primary School, Notre Dame Blackburn and The Harris College Preston before taking up the role of a Senior Fashion Designer in Greater Manchester for 7 years.  She moved into teaching in 1980 and over the years has held many areas of responsibility.  Her most recent appointment was as Dean of the School of Art, Design and Performance at UCLAN, Preston, and during her time there she developed the area of the Creative Industries to become one of the largest schools across the University.

 

Glenda has always maintained strong ties with Darwen.   She has held the position of Secretary for one of the local walking groups, the Spring Vale Rambling Class, for the last 44 years.  She is a Eucharistic Minister at St Joseph’s, Darwen and Glenda attends and supports as many local events and exhibitions as possible.

 

Glenda’s areas of involvement with DACA will hopefully touch on all of the areas that have influenced Glenda’s own career over the last 40 years - Education, Young People , Communities, Cultural and Creative industries across all of the Arts.

 

Glenda looks forward to her involvement with DACA over the coming years.

Michelle Price

Michelle lives and works in Darwen she started her career in Accounts before moving to the Local Authority. She was employed by BWD for 13 years working across both Blackburn and Darwen, supporting families as a Caseworker for Debt, Housing & Benefits as well as supporting Democratic Services during elections.

 

She has been involved in Education since 2009 first as a School Governor for 7 years supporting a Local Primary School and from 2016 as a School Business Manager in an Academy Trust. She is responsible for the management of Finance, Funding, HR, Payroll, Health & Safety, Policy and Governance.

 

She has a son in Year 10 and a son in Primary School.

 

She is looking forward to supporting the Academy over her term of office.
