DACA students experience the slopes of Aosta Valley -

Miss Hyde - DACA have arrived safely at Salzburg airport and we are currently making our way to the hotel. A big thank you to all the parents for getting students to school on time so we could set off smoothly! There seems to be plenty of snow on the ground so the conditions up at the top of the mountain will hopefully be perfect.

Mr Pearson - We’ve managed to get to day two with no injuries. The experienced boarding group consists of Sam, Charlie, Jay, Jack, Kieran, Joe, Lewie, Hannah, Danny and Toby. They’re tearing the mountain up and hitting every jump they can find. Jack McCluskey has his own way to land...on his bum cheeks.Hannah is by far the coolest boarder on the mountain. Smooth as silk! Stay posted for the other group reports 🏂🏂🏂

Mr Thompson - I’ve been lucky enough to join in with the advance skiers today. Group consisting of: Jack, Jaqueline, Carys, George, Eleanor, Kira, Daniel, Joel & Tobryn. In the morning the group went down some very difficult red slopes. From the top of the mountain all the way down working on their sharp turns. In the afternoon they had some great fun doing a few jumps on the ski park! Special thank you to Jack Prince who managed to video my expertise on the jumps. All of group pushed themselves a little further today. Daniel Horton managed to take on both jumps with a little tumble at the end but he has told me he will land it tomorrow, George Garth a.k.a the Speed Demon stayed ice cool when taking on the jumps almost as cool as Jaqueline’s bright gold ski jacket. Tobryn had a few tumbles to begin with but plugged away and managed to complete both jumps to perfection, Joel, Eleanor, Kira and Carys took everything in their stride and also completed the jumps with style! Miss Hyde - So Monday morning the beginner skiers took to the beginners slopes learning to master the basics. We had a few comical falls and and some wobbly moments but it wasn’t long before they were moving on. They have taken to the slopes amazingly and are starting to master turns and steeper sections of the mountain. Declan and Maisie spent quite a bit of Monday on their bottoms... but they always got up straight away and tried again! Today they have been more controlled and confidently developed their technique and asking the instructor to go higher up the mountain. Ben and Elliot are controlling some parallel technique and looking nice and smooth. They are showing us how it’s done! Blake and Olivia are progressing well. They are now wanting to master their turns further... it won’t be long before they are parallel skiing. And Mia... well despite being under confident on Monday she managed some great runs this morning. Unfortunately after lunch took a tumble and ended up being our first casualty. She’s been checked over and thankfully is ok. Well done skiers!

Mr Thompson - Day 4 and we have decided to go to a new resort and challenge some new slopes. Everyone are really enjoying themselves and the top skiing and boarding group are looking forward to take on some more black slopes. Beginner skiers and snowboarders are pushing themselves too with some difficult red slopes. Hopefully it’s another great day.

Mr Thompson - Today the advanced skiers consisting of: Jaqui, Joel, Daniel, Tobryn, Carys, George, Jack and myself got the chance to ski a new ski resort at the other side of town. New slopes got them excited and up for another great day skiing. The day started well with the group work on carving. In fact it wasn’t the skiing that was issue today it was the ‘T’ Bar lifts which seem to baffle Carys and Tobryn as they fell off them numerous times. In the afternoon Daz (the ski instructor) took the group to the top of the mountain where we had to ski through a strong blizzard. Everyone did fantastic today tucking off a few more black slopes. Each skier keeps improving everyday. Keep it up guys!
