DACA Sixth Form In Top 10%

ALPS Top 10

Darwen Aldridge Community Academy sixth form has been awarded a certificate of outstanding progress for its A-level performance.

The accolade was given by the Alps student-centred aspirational tracking system for progression and achievement. Alps’ analysis of 2,590 schools and colleges’ A-level examination results across England, Wales and Northern Ireland shows that the DACA 6th Form is in the top 10 per cent of A-level providers in the country.

The analysis covered the period 2014-17 showing the academy’s sixth form has achieved and maintained a consistently high level of performance in its A-level results for three years.

Alps is provided by Alkemygold Ltd and is recognised by both the Department for Education and Ofsted.

Academy Principal Lisa Dolan said: “This is a fantastic achievement that our staff, students and former students, and the local community should feel very proud of. More than 70% of our Sixth Formers progress to university each year, including Oxbridge, the Russell Group of universities and specialist vocational colleges; many of these students are the first person in their family to complete a Higher Education degree.”

“We now offer over 30 A Levels and Level 3 BTECs, including some not offered elsewhere locally. This means our students can combine A Level and BTEC qualifications to suit their personal strengths, which I am certain contributes to the success recognised in this award.”
