The Big Bang Fair

A group of twelve year 9 students went on a reward trip to “The Bing Bang” festival in Liverpool in July. The reward trip was earned due to outstanding effort, attainment and improvement in their GCSE Science lessons. The students were wonderful role models for the school and took part in a variety of experiments and demonstrations. The also watched shows including “ The Human Guinea Pig”, a doctor who makes sure every diagnostic test is done on him so that students can see the Science behind the medicine.

The students also got to take part in CSI demonstrations, look at experiments with liquid Nitrogen, and see how virtual reality can be used for education. As well as taking part in Science outside the classroom, the students had the opportunity to talk with universities and employers about opportunities in careers in Science once they leave DACA. The students returned to the academy all saying they got a huge amount of the experience and are all looking forward to their Science lessons next year.
