DACA General Election

On Thursday 12th December, whilst voters from across the United Kingdom ventured to the polling station, so did students at DACA. Students had the opportunity to cast a ballot paper in DACA’s own internal General Election. The election mimicked the national event, even down to the ballot paper representing the Rossendale and Darwen constituency. To prepare for the election, students have been looking at the different political parties, exploring their party broadcasts and manifestos.

As a school, we had a very busy break and lunchtime; with just over 32% of staff and students voting. The results were independently counted and verified (our sixth form students were big advocates for preventing electoral fraud!) and you can see them below.

It was fantastic to see so many of our students turn out to vote, and make their choice in a clear well informed manner. Each student was clearly demonstrating democracy in action.
